Angus Nicholles

This packaging was made by a student called Angus NichollsAngus Nicholls is an Australian-born Designer, Art Director and Creative Thinker that currently resides in Sydney. With over 4years experience in branding and design Angus has served a wide range of clients from music, fashion and startup companies. For his brief "students were asked to nominate an existing company that would align well with a fruit sub brand. Select three whole fruits that would fit best with the sub brand and package them". I feel that the packaging has been made to make fruit much more exciting for a young audience. Bright bold colours are used to attract this audience.  This is angus Nicholls first packaging that he has designed and created, its also very different to other projects that he has done. Nicholls has done many different projects for many different fields of graphic design such as, web design, branding, logo design and typography. I feel that this project is different to his other work because of the audience it is aimed at. All of angus's other work is aims at an older business audience and this snack monsters packaging is for a younger audience meaning he has used much different colours on the packaging instead of sticking to greys blacks and whites on his designs for other logos.

This is the snack monsters logo that has been design for this packaging range. This logo is very simple but i feel that it does work well on the top of the packaging. For each fruit packaging the colour of the logo is changed to match with the colour of the fruit.

On the packaging there are also two blocks of text which are titled 'Fruit Facts' and 'Our Heritage', there is also 'The Natural' company logo and then the snack monsters logo at the top of the illustration.

The images for this packaging have been designed a illustrated for this packaging. I feel that the designs for the packaging have been hand drawn then scanned in to photoshop and have been created into these digital snack monster characters and then put onto the packaging net along with the other text and logos. The illustrations are fun and cartoon like to appeal to the young audience. There are each three different illustrated characters for each fruit, E.g. The orange character illustration has a moustache and also looks like the smart one, The red apple looks shocked and the pear looks sleepy and dopey.
Looking at this packaging draws me more towards looking at packaging design for products for a young child audience.

  1. Ben, you've included some good information and opinions. Can you add anything about the following:

    What materials were used?
How do they attract kids? Why those colours?
How do they compare to Angus' other work?
Do they remind you of anything?
